About Sharon

Sharon Kebschull Barrett began her career as a high school newspaper reporter, college reporter who became editor in chief of The Daily Tar Heel at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and copy editor at several newspapers. After a stint in cooking school, she became a freelance food writer and columnist for newspapers and magazines, and had two cookbooks published by St. Martin’s Press, Desserts From an Herb Garden and Morning Glories. She shifted to a focus on K-12 education as senior VP at a research and consulting firm, and reviews cookbooks at her Substack, Cook These Books. See the Publications page for examples of her work.

Why hire Sharon?

Strong interviewing skills, straightforward writing with a strong voice, editing with an eye for holes in the writing, and picky, picky copyediting!

And…

The truth, the whole truth…because Sharon writes fiction terribly

On deadline…because Sharon likes to sleep, too

Clearly communicated…because you don’t have time to waste, either

Transparently priced…because who has time to haggle?
